Xavier Gomez-Santacana

Xavier Gómez-Santacana is an specialist of GPCR Photopharmacology and  Protein labelling working in the interface between Chemistry and Biology. He graduated in Chemistry and performed a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (UB, -2016) under the supervision of Amadeu Llebaria (IQAC-CSIC) and Pau Gorostiza (IBEC) working of photoswitchable ligands for G Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs). These PhD experience included four secondments in the laboratory of Jean-Philippe Pin (IGF-CNRS, Montpellier, France) working in the characterisation of biological and pharmacological activity in-vitro and in-vivo of GPCR ligands. After his PhD dissertation, he joined the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands) working in GPCR photopharmacology (2016-2018) and in 2018 joined the lab of J.P. Pin in the frame of a Chemical Biology project in collaboration with the Cisbio Bioassays (now PerkinElmer). In this period he mastered on the chemical modification of membrane proteins overexpressed in cultured cells. In 2021, he joined the MCS group, in the Institut for advanced Chemistry of Catalonia (IQAC-CSIC, Barcelona, Spain) as a Tecniospring Industry - Marie Sklodowska-Curie researcher, in a frame of a follow-up project in  modification of membrane proteins.
