Lucy Adam

Lucy Adam is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham specialising in GPCR signalling, with a particular focus on proton-sensing GPCRs and ß-arrestin-mediated receptor regulation. Her research integrates molecular and cellular approaches to understand how signalling pathways are controlled in physiological and pharmacological contexts.

She completed her PhD in Pharmacology and Drug Discovery in 2026 at the University of Nottingham under the supervision of Robert Lane and Meritxell Canals, as part of an iCASE collaboration with GSK. Her doctoral research focused on proton-sensing GPCRs, characterising their pharmacology and regulatory mechanisms using BRET-based assays and live-cell imaging. In parallel, she investigated the impact of novel compounds targeting proton-sensing GPCRs on immune function, using macrophage models to assess cytokine release and inflammatory responses.

Following her PhD, she joined the Raphael Haider’s group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where her research has shifted towards arrestin-focused mechanisms, with an emphasis on trafficking and the spatial regulation of GPCR signalling. She is also a member of the iGPCR committee, contributing to community initiatives and fostering collaboration across the GPCR research network.
